I want to share with you a great way to get lab testing. This method takes the guess work out of what condition(s) you might be dealing with, so that you can know. Once you KNOW what needs attention, it helps you and your doctor better formulate a treatment plan. KNOWLEDEGE IS POWER, right? I recommend DirectLabs.com for both routine and specialty testing.

There are several advantages to this. You simply order your lab tests online, print off the order slip, and take it to one of over 8,000 LabCorp sites in the U.S. The website shows which location is closest to you.  You may walk in, or schedule an appointment online. As you will see on their website, they have virtually any test you would need.

Here are some of the reasons I recommend DirectLabs.com:

#1) Deeply Discounted Pricing

Each year more of us have higher deductibles, or no insurance. DirectLabs.com, as you will see on their retail versus wholesale pricing, offer huge discounts through one of the best labs in the U.S…LabCorp.

Chances are, unless you have met your deductible, your lab tests will not be covered. So why pay more than you have to?

#2) No Doctor’s Order Required

Many don’t realize this, but with DirectLabs.com you do not need a doctor’s order. This is perfectly legal, as they have their own in-house medical team. If you do have a doctor’s order, you may still use this service and save lots of money by avoiding the retail price.

#3) Only You Receive The Results

This allows you to maintain privacy. Unless you give permission to DirectLabs.com to release the results, you will be the only one to securely access and download your results.

#4) Save Money On Insurance Premiums

By ordering your own tests, you can see what your blood profile shows……and what needs work. Insurance companies rate you based on your blood work THEY draw (or see on your doctor’s records), so find out in advance what needs to be improved….Cholesterol, Glucose, Triglycerides, etc. BEFORE the “official” testing becomes part of your permanent record!  Remember, when it comes to health and life insurance, the better the lab numbers are, the lower your premiums are!

#5) Participate In Your Healthcare

Arriving at your doctor’s office with lab in hand, and an understanding of those results, will save time and allow for a more in-depth discussion of specific concerns.

#6) Specialty Testing

DirectLabs.com offers not only comprehensive “traditional” testing, but advanced integrative testing as well. If you want to know if you have elevated heavy metals, candida/parasites, delayed food, chemical/ environmental allergies, hormone or vitamin deficiencies, they can all be done through Directlabs.com.

Here is what I recommend for all of my patients as part of their initial screening through DirectLabs.com: For women, the 10 MOST IMPORTANT TESTS FOR WOMEN PROFILE (see the sample report) plus Vitamin-D.  For men, the 10 MOST IMPORTANT TESTS FOR MEN PROFILE (see the sample report) plus Vitamin-D….and a PSA beginning at age 50. I begin ordering the PSA at age 40 if there is a family history of prostate cancer, or if my patient is experiencing any prostate symptoms.

I highly recommend the HAIR TOXIC METAL ANALYSIS for both men and women, as well as the STOOL ANALYSIS WITH PARASITOLOGY x 3.  These last two tests are done through DirectLabs.com and sent to Doctor’s Data, a specialty lab I have used with great success for many years. If you are concerned that you have candida (The Candida Syndrome or Yeast Syndrome) as MANY of my patients do, the stool test will not only confirm their presence, but which strain, how many  and what will rid your body of them. You will also find out about the presence, and amount, of good bacteria (probiotics), bad (dysbiotic) bacteria (one of the reasons for chronic urinary tract infections), and parasites (more common than you probably think!). The test also includes microscopic evaluation for blood in the stool.

If you suspect you have delayed food or chemical allergies/hypersensitivities, the ALCAT COMPREHENSIVE WELLNESS PROFILE  1 is the test to order. It tests for 200 food allergies, 10 food additive allergies, 10 food color allergies and 20 molds!

If you are nervous, depressed, have trouble concentrating, or overeat, then Neuroscience’s Neuro-Endocrine Basic Profile would be a great test to order.

These are just a few of the options available to you, and they may all be ordered through one one source…..DirectLabs.com.

Lab testing, coupled together with our in-depth patient questionnaire, is a very thorough way to evaluate and treat your health concerns.

Ladies, you’ll still need those pap smears/pelvic exams/mammograms/EKGs andChest X-rays as recommended by your doctor based on your age, symptoms, lifestyle and family history.

Men, you’ll still need EKGs and Chest X-rays as recommended by your doctor based on your age, symptoms, lifestyle and family history.

Make sure your doctor carefully checks your skin for early signs of skin cancer.

And when we hit the age of 50 we all need a screening colonoscopy! Earlier if there are symptoms or a family history of colon cancer.

If you live too far from our medical center to visit me in person, I will be glad to do consultations by telephone with you.  If you would like, this can be done before you have testing, so the proper recommendations may be made and lab tests ordered, as well as after the tests are done to review them with you and recommend the necessary lifestyle changes and supplementation.

Please keep in mind that some of these tests may not be well understood by traditionally trained doctors. They mean well, but it simply is not part of their medical school training. Your goal should be to find a physician trained in both traditional and alternative medicine (Integrative Medicine).  If you have a doctor who is unwilling to listen to your concerns, spend time investigating or reviewing your results, or ignores your symptoms (makes you feel like it’s all in your head) find another doctor!

Just click on CONSULTATIONS to schedule a telephone appointment with me.  My staff and I will be glad to assist you!

Hi Dr. Maxwell — I’ve exchanged a couple of emails with you, regarding the liothyronine which I take, and which my sweet young HMO doctor who’s fresh out of medical school doesn’t understand at all. I have been taking 67.5 mcg 2xdaily for about 15 years and it appears to be what my body wants, so I am hoping you will prescribe it for me, as my doctor here doesn’t know how to read the tests and thinks I am taking too much.

Also, I am about to turn 56 and am definitely post-menopausal now. Have been taking bio-identical hormones for 6-7 years now, but think I need to increase the dosage as I am not getting particularly great results: still have irritability, hot flashes (although not as bad as before) and have trouble sleeping.

Other than those mild annoyances, I feel great and consider myself to be in good health. I have bloodwork (CBC, thyroid levels, etc) which was done in February that I can send to you if you’d like to see it. Really just want to fine-tune the hormone therapy so that I feel as great as possible! As it’s about a 3-hour drive to your clinic, I would like to know if you feel we can handle these two situations via phone consults, at least for now so I can get started with you.

    Thank you,

    Sincerely yours,
    Amy Gill

I would be glad to set up phone consultations with you,
